The SSR system is a runflat technology developed by Continental especially for low section tires, which still keeps the tires compatible with all standard rims.
The SSR principle is based on a self-supporting reinforced sidewall. In case of a puncture, this prevents the sidewall from being crushed between the rim and the road, and the tire from slipping off the rim, which makes a spare tire obsolete. Not having to carry a spare tire means a reduction in weight, which improves fuel efficiency. It also adds up to 80 litres of free space in the trunk. Fitting on four positions is highly recommended, if not yet mandatory by law and a tire repair is not allowed.
Technical requirements:
An SSR tire has a reinforced sidewall which in the event of a puncture, prevents the sidewall from being crushed and ensures the driver can continue driving for up to 80 km at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
When a puncture occurs with a standard tire the sidewall can become crushed between the rim and the road causing a potentially dangerous situation like a blowout or the tire slipping off the rim.
ContiSilent™ is a tire noise-reducing technology developed by Continental.
Less noise, more relaxation.
ContiSilent™ is a tire noise-reducing technology developed by Continental. It is designed to reduce interior noise on all road surfaces. ContiSilent™ tires are equipped with an inner tire absorber, a polyurethane foam, attached to the inner surface of the tread area with an adhesive. Regardless of the temperature, the structure of the foam stays intact.
ContiSilent™ helps reduce interior vehicle noise up to 9 dB(A), depending on the type of vehicle, its speed and the road surface. At the moment it is only available for summer tires and is compatible with all commonly available rims. Driving performance is not affected and there is no negative influence on mileage and load/speed capability. Fitting on four positions is recommended.
A ContiSilent™ tire contains a polyether-based polyurethane foam. It is firmly attached to an adhesive layer on the inner surface of the tire tread area.
Even while driving at high speeds, the ContiSilent™ tire reduces road noises inside the vehicle by up to 9 dB(A). The level of reduction of interior noise depends on the type of vehicle, its speed and the road surface.
CSR is an innovative development that ensures the mobility of the vehicle in the event of a puncture.
Because of the good riding comfort CSR afford, drivers hardly notice any pressure loss in the event of a flat; to increase both safety in the event of a flat and performance during normal driving, the CSR system is supplied only together with an inflation warning system – either TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) or DDS (Deflation Detection System), both of which were likewise developed by Continental. These warning systems alert the driver when a drop in inflation pressure requires investigation via a display on the instrument panel.
ContiSupportRing as well as the inflation warning systems TPMS/DDS are exclusively installed in original equipment.
The tire manufacturer Continental AG has been awarded the "Stahl-Innovationspreis 2006" in the Steel Products category. The prize honored the ContiSupportRing runflat system.
ContiSupportRing (CSR) is an innovative development that ensures the mobility of the vehicle in the event of a puncture.
The principle behind CSR is simple: A light stainless steel ring (1) with flexible support (2) is mounted with a standard tire on a standard rim.
CSR has been developed especially for standard rims and standard tires with higher side walls and larger profiles.
ContiSeal™ is a technology designed to seal a damaged tire tread.
*** ContiSeal™ reduces the consequences of tire tread damage: punctures up to 5 mm in diameter (e.g. nail damage) are sealed immediately thanks to a unique technology.
ContiSeal™ is a technology developed by Continental designed to seal a damaged tire tread. In case of penetration by foreign objects such as nails, there is no need for immediate roadside tire changes, and holes remain sealed even if the puncturing object becomes dislodged.
ContiSeal™ is a sticky, viscous sealant layer. It is applied to the inside of the tire in the tread area. ContiSeal™ seals 80% of all tire punctures and therefore reduces the risk of flat tires. ContiSeal™ tires are marked clearly with a symbol on the sidewall and are compatible with all commonly available rims.
Technical instructions:
A ContiSeal™ tire contains a sticky, viscous sealant layer that covers the inside of the tire tread. It provides an almost instantaneous seal around any penetrating object (up to 5 mm in diameter in the tread area), trapping the air inside and keeping the tire inflated and your car mobile.
When a puncture occurs on a standard tire, the sidewall can get crushed between the rim and the road, leading to a potentially dangerous situation such as a blowout or the tire slipping off the rim.
