Designed off of the 1500 template and outfitted with a Z60 suspension, the SS is seen as more performance-based than its brethren and is accepted by a wider demographic due to its neat packaging and versatile look. The “new” Silverado, based off of the GMT900 platform, debuted in 2006 for the ’07 model year. A full-size that delivers on power as well as utility, this version of the Silverado has been a success right from the beginning.
The Chevy Silverado has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including being named Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year (2007). Sales of the Silverado have been extremely strong, as well. Since its debut, the average amount of units sold is listed at just over 630,000. A better example of this is perhaps in 2008, when in the midst of a down-cycle within the American automotive industry, Chevy still managed to move 465,000 Silverado models.
