The production of a sedan Cadillac STS has been quietly phased out. The last model drove of the assembly line in May. Because of the discontinuation of this model there would not be any layoffs, all workers will retain their jobs and will start building CTSs. The production of the STS model started in August 2004, since then there were produced more than 125,000 vehicles.
Next year the company will start producing new smaller model, the brand spokesperson Jordana Strosberg called it alpha platform, though it's reported that the car will be called ATS when it appears in the dealership. Replacing both the STS and DTS in the Caddys lineup is a new full sized sedans based on the XTS, the official production was not confirmed yet.
