As one of America's premier luxury SUVs, the Cadillac Escalade needs no introduction. For over a decade, the Escalade has come to represent the finest in sport utility excellence. The Escalade debuted in 1998 but it wasn't until 2002 when the model began to make headlines. That's because the first generation Escalade was little more than a rebadged version of the GMC Yukon Denali. Featuring a 5.3L V8 with all-wheel drive or a Vortec 6.0L V8, the second running of the Escalade got off to a very good start. The interior accessories also saw some readjustments with an updated dash console and instrument panel.
Cadillac started upping the ante in 2003, offering power-adjustable pedals and 4-wheel drive, but it was in 2004 when the Cadillac Escalade and its parts saw the changes that would propel it to the top of the luxury SUV food-chain. Now equipped with 20" chrome wheels, satellite radio, a special tire-pressure monitoring system, and second-row bucket seats (EXT excluded), the Escalade finally presented a package that Cadillac could market to a wider and more youthful demographic. 2005 saw the Platinum edition make its entrance, tantalizing drivers with a chrome accented grille area, 20" chrome wheels, three DVD monitors, power moon roof, heated/cooled cup holders, and other accessories. Cadillac's goal was to make the Escalade attractive and luxurious while also providing upgraded amenities that can be enjoyed inside the vehicle as well. In 2007, the Escalade was moved to the GMT900 platform, got power-enhancing parts, and was readjusted a bit more. Seating capacity rose to nine passengers and the engine employed is a 6.2L Vortec V8, capable of 403 horsepower.
Cadillac has managed to ensure that the Escalade remains a primary option for those shopping within the luxury SUV segment. To keep up with the industry, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid was introduced in 2008. With a power source that is backed by a 6L V8 engine, the Escalade Hybrid showcases a full variety of comforts, including heated seats, remote-engine start, navigation, a DVD player, and a rearview camera. The Escalade Hybrid has been a success from the beginning, but the original model hasn't slowed down much either. Over the last five years, sales for the Cadillac Escalade have averaged out to above 35,000 units per year for the standard version alone, with the EXT and ESV coming in at 7,800 and 12,300, respectively.
What the ocean is to the beach is what the Escalade has become to the Cadillac brand. Dynamic, fashionable, and powerful, the Cadillac Escalade brings about an essence of luxury that SUVs never had until this model made its presence felt. With delightfully responsive handling, superb underhood parts, and smooth drivability, it has become the automobile of choice for those who demand intensity and class. The Escalade boasts an exterior design invoking both elegance and strength. With all of the technological comforts of the new age and an interior that is as plush as a night at the Waldorf, the Cadillac Escalade is an authority figure on the road that commands constant respect.

Market price: $62.00 - $87.44Once you are the Cadillac Escalade owner, you should be concerned about thieves. It was reported by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), that the Escalade is really appealing to thief's eyes. The crew from CarBuzz has made up a list of 10 vehicles which are most popular among thieves. The crew was basing on the amount of claims per 1,000 vehicles.
The large luxury SUV appears to get the top rank position. While the Esclade is six times more likely to be thieves' victim compared to other cars, there's even more risk when it comes to the truck-like EXT Escalade.
The most stolen vehicles list actually includes mostly full-size pickup trucks, among which are the Ford F-250 and the Chevrolet Silverado. The only cars found in this list are the Chrysler 300 at number six and the Chrysler 300 Hemi at number 10.
Audi in its turn has provided alist of the least-stolen vehicles, featuring the Mercury Mariner and the Chevy Equinox. Such models, as Lexus RX 350, Mini Cooper Clubman, and the Volkswagen CC all turned to be theft auto untouchables.
On May 19, 2011 AutoPacific announced the winners of the 15th Vehicle Satisfaction Award. Authoritative Automotive Research and Insight is a California based company that closely cooperates with the automotive industry since 1986 by making the marketing researches and consulting on products. Annually AutoPasific names the top performing vehicles of the current year. The initial aim of the competition is to identify, what vehicles deliver higher satisfaction to their owners. Owning a car, truck or a SUV, the driver knows much more about all pros and cons of the vehicle as his or her knowledge is based on everyday maintenance.
This year the Cadillac Escalade became the winner in the Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle category. Don Butler, Vice President of Cadillac Marketing, made the following comment on this award,Its especially gratifying to be honored by AutoPacifics Vehicle Satisfaction Awards because theyre chosen by owners. Escalades consistent strong showing in these awards is a testament to its ability to deliver what customers want in a luxury vehicle." General Motors left the ceremony with three segment awards, and one out of three was brought by the Escalade.
As reported by Automotive News, General Motors Co. is going ahead with a next-generation Cadillac Escalade. Along with other full-size SUVs, it will roll off the production line in about three years.
SUVs have traditionally been big moneymakers for GM and the upcoming full-sizers were actually on the product roadmap before the launch of the GMT-900 trucks and SUVs in 2007. The 2008 skyrocket of gasoline prices, global recession and the consequent bankruptcy issues, forced General Motors to put development of those vehicles on hold.
The automotive press has speculated that the Escalade nameplate may move to the Lambda crossover platform. However, in the beginning of 2010 GM confirmed that each GM brand that has a full-size SUV (Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC) will get next-generation models. The 7-seat Lambda-based Cadillac CUV will still go into production, but it is going to complement the new Escalade.
According to GM reps, sales of large SUVs are picking up and the automaker feels strongly this segment should survive despite fuel economy concerns. This brought the SUV programs back on the plan for 2013 calendar year. In particular, we should be seeing the new 2014 Cadillac Escalade (both the regular model and the Escalade EXV) in the fourth quarter of 2013. The Escalade EXT is not expected to return in the next generation. At the moment the details of the program are vague, but both models are expected to feature GMs upcoming Generation Five Small Block V8 engines and possibly an eight-speed transmission.
"The SUVs are aimed at people who need more than two rows, and they need capability," said Rick Spina, GM's global vehicle line executive for full-sized trucks. "They are very fond of their SUVs, and we will continue to serve them."
