The 2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible was shown in the beginning of 2011 during the North America International Auto Show in Detroit. The world premiere of the 2012 6-Series Coupe was held later the same year during the Shanghai auto show in April. The presentation of the new BMW Coupe for the North America market was made at 2011 New York Auto Show.

    It looks like the expectations of the BMW enthusiasts are satisfied. The 2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible is a true groundbreaking luxury. The convertible is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine. The power plant makes 400 hp and 450 ft-lbs of torque. It is planed that the customers will be provided with an option to choose between a six-speed manual transmission and eight-speed automatic gearbox. The new elegant beast hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The 2012 6-Series Convertible comes with soft top to prevent curb weight increasing. The top is opened in 19 seconds and closed in 24 seconds. The alluring interior shows a large color display with 3D graphics and a 10.2" LCD screen for the navigation and iDrive systems. The estimated price is $91,375. That is about seven thousands lower than the price of the 2012 6-Series Coupe. The Coupe base price is planned to be $83,875. This hard top 2012 BMW car shows the unrivaled sportiness appearance blended with elegance and power. It looks like a shark and moves like a shark. The car is equipped with the same engine type as its sibling. The available options include rear-view camera, Active Cruise Control, Dynamic Traction Control, LED headlights, Lane Departure Warning.

    Shortly after introduction of the anticipated 6 Series convertible at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, the fans of BMW can have an early sneak peak at the coupe version of the 6 Series third-gen vehicle. New spy shots of the coupe prototypes surfaced on the Web several days ago.

    The Bavarian automaker remained faithful to the new sixer Coupe concept, which debuted at the last year’s Paris Motor Show. The production model will have a set of new wheels and different mirrors. Among the main highlights of the release are a full LED makeover and more sophisticated design compared to highly-criticized shapes by Chris Bangle. The third-generation of vehicle reflects the BMW’s new design language, sporting smoother rear lines and the more athletic, stronger face.

    The new BMW 6 Series Coupe is expected to go on sale in the fall. No details on options and pricing available yet, but expect this top-tier German to cost around $90,000.

    Scheduled to show up at the Detroit Auto Show next month, the all-new BMW 6-Series Convertible has already been virtually introduced to the public.

    Among the main highlights of the anticipated release are:

    • An exclusive 3.0L inline-6 with TwinPower turbocharging and direct injection coming under the hood of the base 640i Convertible.
    • A 4.4L V8 built in the 650i. This engine also makes use of TwinPower turbocharging technology and is capable of 407-hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.
    • Bigger yet sleeker design, comparing to its predecessor.
    • Rich electronic system : standard features included in the new drop-top BMW 6-series are a two-zone automatic climate control with convertible mode, a multifunction steering wheel, electrically operated front seats with memory function, BMW’s latest-generation Head-Up Display, a 12-speaker audio system and a bunch of other hi-tech gizmos.
    • A roll-over protection system, developed specifically for the new 6-Series Convertible.

    Although there is no indication on exact pricing and availability, the 2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible is expected to hit the U.S. dealerships in the spring 2011. The first of the new-gen 6-Series drop-tops available for the U.S. customers will be the 650i Convertible.
