The exclusively hand built four-door version of the Bentley Continental GT coupe, named the Flying Spur, was introduced in 2006. Due to the capacity lack of Crewe factory located in England, the Bentley Flying Spur was built at the Volkswagen Transparent Factory in Dresden, Germany, but in 2006 all the assembly moved back to Crewe. The design and accessories or the Bentley Continental Flying Spur were designed and constructed by the same team that created the GT and GTC models and using some parts and components of Volkswagen Phaeton, Audi A8, and S8 powertrain. The Continental Flying Spur 6.0 liter engine displacement delivers a top speed of 194 mph that is pretty impressive for a sedan weighing 5482 lb. In fact, this luxury sedan delivers the same GT's performance but with higher level of passenger comfort.

The Continental Flying Spur Speed modification is equipped with the same engine as the regular Flying Spur but in updated with a bunch of performance-oriented parts, borrowed from the Continental GT Speed. It produces 610 metric horsepower at 6.000 rpm with a top speed of 200 mph, and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. The Flying Spur Speed is considered the fastest four-door sedan. Both the Flying Spur and the Flying Spur Speed are competed with permanent all-wheel-drive system and a 6 speed automatic transmission, but Speed version is noticeable for its dark tinted grille, exhaust pipes, and larger intensified brakes.

A fully outfitted for the new model year, the 2010 Continental Flying Spur carries on with the same styling as previous years model but features some slight cosmetic modifications and new colors range. It can be optioned with such high-end amenities like massaging seats, satellite radio, and voice-activated navigation, and premium 1000 watt Naim audio system. Updated Bentley Flying Spur Is to Roll Out

The improved version of already luxurious Bentley Flying Spur sedan will be launched in March 2011 as a 2012 model. A newly introduced range of unique Series 51 designs has made the Flying Spur even more attractive. The Series 51 design was previously noticed with the Continental GT and GTC. Bentley’s Series 51 design, which was called after the year of Bentley Styling department's establishment, features new original styling touches, such as 14 different tri-tone interior color schemes. The interior color schemes include main color, which is dark, a lighter insert color, and an accent hue developed for seat piping and stitching.

2012 Bentley Flying Spur also receives nine-spoke 19-inch alloys, available in a cool graphite tone with special wind badges, located behind the front wheel arches. Another sporting touches to the model are peculiar blue brake calipers and black or chrome wing vents, developed by Bentley’s head of exterior design, Raul Pires. The Series 51 package is also available on the Flying Spur Speed.

A 30 GB touchscreen infotainment system incorporated in the dash will be the standard equipment for all Continental Flying Spur and Supersports models. The 8 inch screen is to display the vehicle's audio system, ride and comfort settings, along with telephone settings. The latest navigation system utilizes both a DVD player and an in-car hard-disc drive. The dynamic navigation is used to prevent heavy traffic spots. The GPS can also locate destinations due to geo-tagged photos from SD card.
