German automaker Audi has recently revealed the 2012 Audi A6 for public view. The fans of the famous German brand have been waiting for the new 2012 Audi S6 as well. There are some spy photos surfaced on the Web (worlocarfans.com) several days ago. Visually, the Audi S6 looks very similar to the Audi A6, besides the rear deck lid spoiler, S badging in the grille, and the four exhaust pipes, typical for S models. The Audi S6 and Audi A6 differ mostly by the powertrain. Take the opportunity to find out more about upcoming 2012 Audi S6.

The new Audi S6 will be a powerful player to compete with the rivals in its segment. The competitors for the Audi S6 will be Infiniti M56S and BMW 550i. On the contrary to the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine developing 430 hp, used in the current 2011 Audi S6 sedan, the new 2012 Audi S6 will come with turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 450 hp. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Taking into account the BMW 550i's 450 lb-ft of torque, and the Infiniti M56S's 420 hp, the new Audi S6 is reputed to hold a leading position in its segment. The new model will have lighter weight than the current Audi S6, and have almost 200 lbs less versus either of the mentioned rivals. Unlike most powerful vehicles, including the Infiniti and BMW, the new Audi S6 will feature the intelligent all wheel drive system. The brand's standard 40/60 front to rear torque distribution provides the feeling of rear wheel drive.

New Audi S6 is expected to hit United States shores any day. The Audi S6 may be available sooner than some fans may expect. The official debut of 2012 Audi S6 is planned by the end of this year.
