The Audi Q7 has made an impression ever since its debut at the Los Angeles Auto show in January of 2006. A full-size luxury SUV, the Q7 is designed off of the Volkswagen PL71 platform alongside the Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne. The model is 78.1 inches wide with a curb weight that rests between 4,850 and 5,730 pounds, depending on the trim configuration. Trim levels include the base 3.6, Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. All versions of the Audi Q7 are equipped with the brand's much-heralded Quattro all-wheel drive system.

Engine options and range of the Audi Q7 parts vary depending on the trim. The base 3.6 is equipped with a 3.6L V6 capable of 280 horsepower and 266 pounds-per-foot of torque. A 4.2L V8 is also available and throws out a hefty 350 horsepower along with 325 pounds-per-foot of torque. Both engine configurations are directed through a six-speed transmission. A diesel-powered 3.0 TDI V6 is expected to be released as well. As for the trim levels, the base 3.6 offers leather seating and dual-zone climate control. For the Premium, Audi's Multi Media Interface system and a power liftgate are included. With the Premium Plus, a specialized surround-sound stereo and GPS navigation are included. And finally, the Prestige trim level brings xenon HID headlights and voice-activated features.

In 2009, the model was adorned with several new accessories. LED running lights and turn signals were implemented and chrome trim was also employed in various spots throughout the vehicle. The inside got a refresher, as well, with an updated Multi Media Interface, new leather seats, and door lights. The Audi Q7 was designed for luxury on-road driving but due to the Quattro all-wheel drive system, it can handle light off-road use sporadically. Thanks to its heritage of top-grade engineering and upscale image, the Audi Q7 has received numerous awards from within the industry. It has been a Consumer Guide Recommended Buy (2008, 2009) as well as a contender for Motor Trend magazine's Sport Utility of the Year (2007).
