Your vehicle’s power-to-weight ratio is everything when it comes to performance, and automakers go to great lengths to remove every ounce from your vehicle when designing it in order to increase that ratio. For example, when it comes to racing, any item that doesn’t increase power or improve handling is dubbed extraneous and removed. However, in the competitive world of the passenger car business, automakers must sell cars by meeting customer demand for luxury items while meeting safety regulations mandated by the U.S. Federal government. Because this often leads to standard equipment that waters down power-to-weight ratios, CARiD offers an easy way to offset unwanted pounds with the easy-to-install Intercooler Core Kit by AEM®. It’s a replacement intercooler that increases power by 13 horses in the 4,500 rpm range where it’s most useable. High grade aluminum construction ensures light weight, and advanced design allows an overall interior airflow volume increase of 100 percent with only minor size and weight penalties.
This intercooler core requires the AEM Intercooler Charge Pipe Kit (sold separately) for installation on your vehicle. To make hookup easy, the intercooler core comes with the brackets, clamps, and couplers you’ll need, and clear, easy-to-follow instructions will guide you every step of the way. AEM manufactures their Intercooler Core Kit in the United States, and they are so confident of its proven durability and ability to maintain integrity under years of hard use, the kit comes backed with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects and corrosion.
John Concialdi and Bob Sullivan co founded AEM in 1987 as a tuning performance shop in Compton California. Both men had extensive technical backgrounds in engines and engine airflow, and in a short time AEM became the go-to company for performance modifications. By 1993, when the company relocated to Gardena California, it had become commonplace to see cars wearing the bright yellow AEM logo winning races. AEM tirelessly dyno tested and worked closely with racers and auto manufacturers in an effort to understand intake energy dynamics. This resulted in the sale of their first air intake kit in 1994. AEM can boast a number of firsts and unique products: They’re the first manufacturer to make an intake system with specific tube lengths and diameters to take advantage of pressure waves in the inlet tract; they developed the first dual chamber intake kit; they designed an air bypass valve to prevent hydro-lock should the air filter ingest water; and they created one of the first hybrid intake systems for modified cars. AEM continues to create innovative products to help you get more power from your car.
