The Acura ZDX is a luxury midsize crossover that debuted in April of 2009 at the New York International Auto Show. It was designed at Acura's US studio in Southern California, becoming the first model under the brand to hold this distinction. The ZDX is assembled in Alliston, Ontario, and was released for the 2010 model year. The wheelbase is 108.2 inches long, while the overall length of the vehicle is listed 192.4 inches with another 78.4 inches in width. Height is measured at 62.8 inches, which is important to note as Acura has not dubbed the model a 'crossover SUV.' Instead, the Acura ZDX is marketed as a 'luxury four-door sports coupe.' But the general assumption around the industry prior to its release was that the ZDX was developed to take on entrants such as the BMW X6 along with other luxury crossovers.

The engine is an aluminum-alloy 3.7L V6 SOHC VTEC engine capable of 300 horsepower and 270 pounds-per-foot of torque. It is geared to a Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system and electronic direct ignition. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the ZDX also showcases Acura's SH-AWD system (Super Handling All Wheel Drive), which provides continuous torque regulation between the front and rear wheels. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, Brake Assist, and Electronic Brake Distribution, as well as Vehicle Stability Assist and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System highlight some of the safety features, a trait Acura is often recognized for. The ZDX is currently offered in three trim levels: base, Technology Package, and Advance Package, with the main differences being further upscale safety accessories, such as voice-activated navigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a blind spot monitoring system.

Inside the model, there are plenty of amenities including leather seats, automatic climate control, active sound control, a USB iPod port, and Bluetooth capability. Up front, both the driver's seat and the passenger's seat can be heated (on the Advanced package, seats can be cooled). A two-driver memory system is also installed in order to ensure a driver's seating preference as well as positions of the mirrors, audio settings, and steering wheel height. Two front airbags, two front side airbags, two side-curtain airbags, and active head restraints are the core safety features and parts located inside the Acura ZDX.

Although a new member of the family, the Acura ZDX has already caused a stir. Thanks to the smooth lines that blend into one another, this refined crossover gets attention just because of its looks.
