Acura Trailer Hitches & Towing

The free space within our cars is very limited. When you decide to travel to a ski resort or go on a hiking trip, even the most spacious vehicle won't be able to accommodate all the necessary gear. Aren't you tired of trying to stuff your snowboard or skies into your Acura and then constantly worrying that the sharp edges will damage your upholstery? And even if you manage to fit everything inside, you won't have enough space for the people!

The best solution to this problem is, of course, mounting most of your gear on the outside of your vehicle. One of the ways you can do that is by installing one of the Acura trailer hitches that CARiD has in stock. A trailer hitch receiver is a great place for you to mount bike, ski or snowboard carriers. These carriers can hold up to six pairs of skies or four snowboards if you have installed at least a Class II Acura trailer hitch. If you are not going biking or skiing, you may attach a transporter combi cargo box to the hitch receiver. The cargo box can carry up to 150 lbs of cargo and won't interfere when you want to open the trunk of your car. Overall, the Acura trailer hitches are a great investment which will broaden your options when it comes to carrying a lot of cargo.

Sometimes when towing a trailer, it’s hard not to think about all the things that can go wrong – especially worst-case scenarios such as the trailer breaking free from your vehicle and becoming a “runaway” that puts property and life at risk. You start to worry if, when you lowered the trailer hitch down onto the ball, the locking tongue actually secured...
When you carry a boat, ATV, or other equipment on a trailer regularly, you’re going to need to bring a lot of gear and equipment along for the variety of tasks inevitably required during the loading or unloading process. First, there are tie-down straps, hooks, bungee cords, locks, safety chains, gloves, and a flashlight. Then, then there’s assorted hand...
When looking for a trailer winch, it is very important to remember that they are rated by weight capacity. Unless specified otherwise, the weight rating for a trailer winch is the amount of weight it can pull when loading a boat, ATV, or other vehicle onto a trailer – not what it can lift. Compared to an off-road winch, the load object is free to roll or float,...

2015 Acura MDX | Posted by Kent W | (Madison, NJ)

I installed this hitch on a 2016 Acura MDX. I did not have a helper so just used some blocks of wood to hold the hitch up and against the underwear of the frame. The only issue I encountered is that the bolt holes in the hitch are a bit tight when you get everything together (before torquing them down) and the last one would almost not allow the last bolt to mate up with the prethreaded receptacle on the frame. It would be helpful if they would just drill out the bolt holes a bit more to give a little more wiggle room when you are screwing in the last 2 bolts.
