Custom Accessories for Acura RDX
    About Acura RDX

The Acura RDX debuted at the 2006 New York Auto Show in advance of the 2007 model year. It represents Acura's first foray into compact SUVs and is noted for its sporty looks, high-end accessories, precise handling, and enhanced cargo area. With the MDX larger, the RDX takes over as Acura's entry-level SUV. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine capable of 240 horsepower and 260 pounds-per-foot of torque. It also comes standard with a five-speed Sport-Shift automatic transmission, which is a sequential-shift system that features paddles located on the steering wheel.

Acura's vaunted SH-AWD system (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) is standard as well, similar to the RL. And unlike other Acura models, which share platforms with their Honda siblings, the RDX is constructed on its own platform due to the presence of SH-AWD. The cabin showcases such amenities as leather upholstery, rearview camera, USB port, and a six-CD disc changer with 260 watts. Options include tech-savvy details like voice-activated navigation and solar-sensing climate control. In its second year of production such parts as an automatic-dimming rearview mirror, power-memory driver's seat, and Bluetooth capability became available.

Safety features abound inside the SUC. Dual front airbags, front-side airbags, and dual side-curtain airbags are all standard parts of the Acura RDX. Active head restraints with pre-tensioners are also employed. As for recent changes, 2010 brought on a new front-end grille and other restyling cues. In its otherwise brief history, the Acura RDX has posted respectable sales numbers for its segment, averaging approximately 16,450 units sold per year from 2007-2009. It has also picked up numerous awards, including being nominated for Motor Trend magazine's Sport Utility of the Year (2007) and being named an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick for 2009.

The land of crossover SUVs hasn't just changed in recent years, it has morphed into a fierce battle between manufacturers to see who can pump out the most athletic, fashionable, and nifty model on the planet. It has been a quest for domination. Acura lands a telling blow with the RDX. The Acura RDX comes prepped and ready to impress, showcasing a wide range of creature comforts to provide a cozy living room experience while still offering enough pep to put a smile on your face. While most others in this segment blend in, the RDX is one stylish crossover that plays by its own rules.

2013 Acura RDX: Approved by Consumer Reports

When the Acura RDX first appeared in 2006, it was supposed to become a huge success. Unfortunately, the crossover didn't stand up to expectations. Over the past half-decade, it faced low sales. According to Consumer Reports, it all is because of stiff riding, unrefined design and unimpressive fuel efficiency. Yet unlike the first-gen Acura RDX, the new CUV was recommended by Consumer Reports.

The CR gave the compact SUV the top rating of 'Recommended.' The main reason for it was that Acura gave up the turbocharged four-cylinder in favor of the new 3.5-L V6 engine. During the test drive, the V6 proved to have sweeter sound, give plenty of power and generate quicker acceleration. The revised RDX also sports a simpler AWD system. It is not as helpful on the race-track as the SH-AWD used in the first-gen CUV, however it significantly reduces weight. The above upgrades made the ride quality better than before and also helped the vehicle to show improved fuel economy numbers. The new RDX is also said to have a roomy interior with enough features for the price. Front seats offer a great blend of comfort and support, while the rear seats are spacious enough for three adults.

The Audi Q3 and BMW X3 are the only rivals to the RDX. Editors at CR report that the RDX still has room for improvement, however, only the Acura RDX and Audi Q3 got a Recommended rating, while the X3 didn't as it was hard to predict reliability of its new 2.0-L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

    2011 Acura RDX's Ranking

As a comfortable and quick compact SUV featuring plenty of high-tech features, the 2011 Acura RDX is aimed at luxury compact SUV buyers. According to U.S. News, the model ranks 8 out of 9 Luxury Compact SUVs. The analysis of 72 published reviews and test drives of the compact SUV as well as the analysis of reliability and safety data are the grounds to give this ranking.

There are still complaints concerning the interior and the engine's output. The RDX used to be a choice of families who required a practical vehicle of the upper class. Moreover, 2011 Acura RDX is equipped with high-tech features, fun to drive, and comfortable around town. Nevertheless, other compact SUVs have caught up to this model. According to Consumer Guide, the RDX is one of the least expensive premium-compact SUVs due to its stiff ride, power delivery, and the unfavorable cabin appointments.

Acura RDX is an excellent choice for those who are looking for something fun to drive with a luxury badge and decent price. As stated by U.S. News, 2011 Acura RDX received the following points: 8.4 points in performance category, 6.6 points in exterior category, 7.4 points in interior category, 10 points in safety category, and 7 points in reliability category.
