An interesting story of one Acura Integra has been recently featured in the Import Tuner magazine.
The 2000 Acura Integra GSR has been fully built by the NorCal-based street racing enthusiast Hai Le... in order to be fully totaled by its creator in about a year. Hai has been into car building since he was 16 years old, and by the age of 18 he opened his own body shop, Importwerkz Auto Body N Paint. He started to customize his Integra in 2006 and it took him one year to complete the car.
This Integra GSR could be called Frankenstein, as most of the parts Hai used on it were bought used. Born from the ashes, the ride was capable of 398 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. It featured a 2.1-liter turbocharged V-Tec engine, OEM Honda LSD driveline, Sprint Hart CPR street wheels, and Falken Ziex 512 street tires. For the exterior, the custom Integra had a JDM Integra Type R front-end conversion (front bumper, bumper support, fenders, hood, radiator support, headlights), JDM angler front license plate frame, JDM front lip spoiler, and Spoon side mirrors. The main interior highlights were the JDM Integra Type R door panels, dash, gauge cluster, console, Recaro seats, floor mats, steering wheel, Skunk 2 shift knob, andTakata harnesses.
Even though the Integra was smashed badly against a guardrail, it kept a usable shape and Hai Le has transformed it into a new car, which was featured in the Honda Tuning magazine a year ago.
