The 2016 Passat is one of the first cars to offer integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A suite of standard safety features now includes a rear view camera, antilock brakes, and traction / stability control systems.

The powertrain didn’t receive any updates for 2016. Power comes from either a 1.8L turbocharged I4 or a 3.6L V6, capable of 170 and 280 hp, respectively. The base turbo four is matched with a smooth and responsive 6-speed automatic, while a more powerful V6 gets a quick-shifting 6-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters. The Volkswagen Passat is already one of the best-driving cars in the segment, with handling supremacy that is hard to match, so the suspension and steering didn’t see any major changes.
