The Sentra was launched in 1982 as Nissan’s entry-level subcompact sedan. Over the years, the Sentra has grown into a compact car with a spacious interior that could fit into a mid-size sedan class. For the 2016 model year, the Sentra was facelifted with brand-new headlights, redesigned hood, fascia, and grille. Rear-end updates include new tail lights and a rear bumper. The 2016 Nissan Sentra rolls on a set of all-new 17-inch wheels. The mid-cycle update also brought some new traits to the Sentra’s passenger compartment, including the new center console and door trim as well as a revised three-spoke steering wheel and redesigned gear shifter. Dimensionally, the 2016 Sentra remained the same as the previous-year model. It is 182 inches long with a 106.3-inch wheelbase. Cargo capacity is rated at 15 cubic feet. The rear seats provide enough space to comfortably accommodate up to three passengers.

The 2016 Nissan Sentra is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four engine good for 130 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. The entry-level S and FE+ S trim levels got a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an optional CVT. The CVT comes standard on other, more upscale trims. The Sentra reaches a 60 mph mark in 10 seconds, which makes it one of the slowest-accelerating compact sedans. Fuel economy, however, is impressive - the manual-transmission Sentra demonstrates 30 mpg combined, while the CVT adds 2 more mpg. The most fuel-efficient FE+ S model reaches 34 mpg combined.
