Remin® - Dash Kit

To preface, I love it now that it's done, and despite wishing I could go for a brighter, browner wood color it's really growing on me and I love the effect. The cabin looks nicer and a touch more upscale, at least until you start poking ;) I bought the ebony zebra wood color, which is a near-black color with visible wood grain in a dark gray/silver. When the light hits the vinyl, the blacks and grays reflect some of the surrounding color so it's a little mood-lighty. It's a really nice color. It came as pictured. Didn't use every piece, but I didn't want to either. Some of the original (silver) trim is still showing through, which is disappointing but not entirely unexpected. Just some really odd decisions on where some pieces, especially around the gear knob/console overlapped or wouldn't meet. Besides the dash (the most parts, the weirdest curves, and some of the skinniest pieces to apply and the glues really hated the area in general), the pieces that bother me the most are the ones that go on the door handle trims. They don't wrap all the way around the plastic, so it's just a thin strip of vinyl sitting on the front-most face of the handle trim. It looks odd, but they're stuck there and I'd still rather them be there than leave it as black plastic. Just something to be aware of, since it doesn't even look inlaid (of course, because it's kind of thick vinyl), it pops out instead so it just... looks odd. Cars with flatter door trims (or flatter surfaces in general) will have better-fitting pieces and less hardship getting them to stick. On that note. The activator sticks weren't enough. Maybe because we tried to put it on while too cool out (it was hovering around 50-60 degrees F. and overcast), but either way we ended up dropping by a store to get Gorilla glue, and a day later I made another trip to get a precision-point Loctite contact super glue (and a needle to help apply it) to get some more stubborn or skinny pieces to stick where they should. So I think the trim is now on effectively forever.xD The vinyl seems durable and scratch-resistant. It hasn't been on long enough to tell (less than a week and I have no kids or pets). And with the super glues I used, I'm pretty sure it's not going anywhere any time soon. Overall, this is a great addition to my car's interior revamp. She's a Prius Persona, for reference, and I'm reupholstering and painting the interior to be beige and purple, so this is a much nicer accent than the original silver even if some of it is still visible in a few places. Next time, I may try the other brand available (B&I), but if you remind yourself that this is the cheaper of the two products, and that it's vinyl that you're gluing it onto the original trim after the fact and not everything will fit perfectly no matter where you buy it from (especially if your car has curves ;) ) then you won't be disappointed. I'm not!
