2013 Ford Focus Car Covers

When I had to move from a house with a garage to an apartment without a garage, my first concern was how to protect my car from the elements! I live in Florida where the sun shines most of the year and it's pretty strong, and at the same time during the summer it rains every day for a couple of hours. I had experience in the past with cheap car covers that would just disintegrate when exposed to the elements (and this was back in NY!) so this time I figured I would get something that was of good quality, even if it meant spending more. I ended up choosing the Covercraft Reflec'tect cover because it, and I quote, "is extremely water resistant" and most importantly it provides "best breathability" and it "allows moisture and heat to escape from underneath". This, coupled with the fact that it's "perfect for hotter climates where the effect of the sun is stronger" sounded exactly like what I needed for the Florida weather! I received the cover in October, which is past the rainy summer season when it rains every day. This year we had a bit more rain than usual but nothing even close to every day. Yet when I went out to look how the car was after it rained, I could tell the car was wet underneath, because the cover was sticking to the body of the car. And upon lifting the cover I could confirm that there was plenty of water between the car and the cover. Extremely water resistant, huh? More like not resistant at all. But I figured, hey, if the material is so breathable, it's not gonna be a problem, the water will just evaporate with our strong sun, right? Wrong again! After two months of using it, I started noticing a lot of mold spots forming on the underside of the cover. Clearly the cover is not only not water resistant, it's also not breathable! Clearly moisture gets trapped underneath. When I contacted the customer service I was told that "water resistant" doesn't mean "water proof" (you can blame semantics all you want, if you advertise something as "extremely water resistant" everybody in their right mind will think that it repels water, period), that I should wash it often and that the warranty would not cover this kind of damage. No comment on the fact that the cover is not breathable, which is a fact. I'm ultimately very dissatisfied with this cover, because it's advertised as water resistant and breathable, and it's neither of these things! This makes the cover useless if you live in a place that is hot and humid. And if you don't live in a place that is hot and humid, you can buy better covers that are designed to work better with your environment. Bottom line, stay away from this cover, and take the Covercraft warranty with a grain of salt, because in my case they didn't deliver.
