Deep water crossings and dusty trails can be hazardous to the health of your Jeep's engine. Trying to ford deep water with a stock intake, even with a lifted vehicle, runs the risk of ingesting water into the intake. Water won't compress in your engine's cylinders like the air/fuel mixture, so your engine can be severely damaged. Excessive dust can clog the air filter and choke your engine, and if the dust gets past the filter the fine abrasives can cause their own form of damage.
Be prepared for these conditions with the XHD Snorkel Kit from Rugged Ridge. This kit replaces your stock lower air cleaner box and air intake with a replacement lower air cleaner box, a hi-temp silicone hose, mandrel bent aluminum tube, and a premium quality thermoformed plastic tube that ends with a low mount intake on the fender just below the windshield. This raises the air intake above the water and dust clouds, and also allows cooler, denser air to be drawn into the air intake, for increased power. And if that's not high enough, a thermoformed plastic high mount tube with ram air intake can be attached to the low mount intake, raising the air intake 21" to the top of the windshield, far above the water and dust clouds. The modular design allows you to easily change the air intake location to suit your needs.
Unlike other kits that require cutting large holes in the firewall, fender or hood, installing the XHD Snorkel Kit only requires minor modification to the fender. The new lower air cleaner box installs in place of the factory unit, and is easily attached to the factory upper air box. The intake system also includes built-in manual drain valves to channel away excess water and prevent it from entering the intake system. Comprehensive, detailed instructions are included to guide you through the installation procedure using the included mounting hardware.
With the XHD Snorkel Kit you can still fold your windshield and remove your doors, and it's completely compatible with Rugged Ridge dual battery trays, windshield light bars and windshield light mounting tabs. The kit is backed by a 5-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
