The molded edge holds dirt and moisture in place until the liner is cleaned. And cleaning is very easy. Just hose off the liner and wipe it to near-dry. It will dry quickly to be re-installed almost immediately.

The rolled lip of the liner tucks down. This avoids the irritation and wear that hard stand-up edges of other floor protectors can cause.
