The suspension was mildly modified to make the vehicle stiffer and more composed. Also, 16-inch wheels replaced 15-inchers and the interior got aluminum inserts instead of chrome.

Otherwise, engine choices and trim levels carry over. DX, LX, and EX are powered by different versions of a 1.7-liter four-cylinder, while the Si comes with a 2.0-liter 160-hp VTEC engine. A 5-speed manual is a standard transmission option. Select versions can be had with a 4-speed automatic or a CVT. The Civic Hybrid provides a total output of 93 hp.
