Legal for street use in most US States. Each is designed to exact the original equipment specifications. While the majority of the Direct-Fit Catalytic Converter products do not require welding, cutting or bending, limited applications may require additional welding for optimal installation.

Does the Job/ Easy InstallPosted on 02/24/12 Christian Y. - 2004 Jeep Wrangler (Dallas, TX)Appearance Ease of Installation Price/Value Quality "The Magnaflow cat is a two piece design to make installation easier. Ostensibly, I could have cut my old cat in the center and installed this one without removing the skidplate. I decided it was worth the extra 30 mins of work to remove it and re-install it to reduce the bashed knuckles while disconnecting the muffler end. If you have a socket set and a large (I think 17mm) crescent wrench. you can do this at home. P420 code is gone, so its doing what a Cat is supposed to. Expect some smoking the first time you start it up as it cleans itself out and blues the finish from the heat. No gaskets are required for the 2004 Wrangler as its all pressure fittings. Now go out there and get your Jeep legal again!"

Easy installation for DIY. Everything lined up perfectly. Three bolts on the front, two on the rear. You need to replace the two gaskets, available at the Auto stores and probably new bolts. You'll need some penetrating spray to loosen the bolts (PB Blaster). Once the car is on jack stands, less than an hour taking off the old one, less than an hour doing the install."
