Chevy Silverado 2001-2003, Black Series™ Downpipe-Back Diesel Exhaust System by MBRP®. Single Side Exit. Black is the new chrome, they say. And it’s hard to argue with the compelling look of a "murdered-out" custom car or truck, with every piece of brightwork done in black or flat black. MBRP has the final touch for your diesel truck; a blacked-out exhaust system that not only looks great but delivers more power and torque, and improves mileage at the same time.
Notes: Not for Sale or Use in the State of California.
Look far and wide, and you’ll have a hard time finding a black exhaust system. And it doesn’t matter what it says on that spray can of high-temp black paint you were reading at the auto parts store last week, it isn’t long-lasting. The only way to achieve a true black finish on an exhaust pipe is to bake it on before assembly. The high-heat black ceramic coating on MBRP’s Black Series is warrantied for a full year. But there’s a second compelling reason to give your truck an upgraded exhaust system: the performance. The free-flowing your exhaust system is, the less energy is needed to push exhaust gases out past the turbocharger and out of the cylinders. Better yet, a low-restriction exhaust leaves less residual exhaust inside the combustion chamber at the end of the scavenge cycle, which allows more air in during the intake stroke. And more air means more power, especially if you’ve added more fuel with a tuner or some other mod.
Fifteen years ago, MBRP® started in the exhaust business by introducing the B&B Eliminator, a silencer that quickly became the best-selling snow machine muffler of all time. Exhaust system technology being as universal as it is, they soon branched off into cars, Jeeps, and diesel trucks, with amazing success. One of their secrets has been the practice of making as many universal-fit kits as possible. A couple of extra parts in the box means that a single kit might fit a number of different wheelbase pickup trucks, for instance. Reducing complexity in ordering is better for them, better for their distributors, and a great benefit for their customers, who are more likely to be able to find a kit that fits their vehicle on hand. In addition, they go to great lengths to make sure their systems fit properly every time. Careful attention to design and fabrication delivers a system that doesn’t need customization with a hammer to fit properly before the car or truck comes off the lift.
