When your engine breathes better, it takes in more air, which allows the engine to burn more fuel. More air and fuel in the combustion process means more forceful explosions driving the pistons, resulting in more power to the rear wheels.

The easiest way to get more air into your engine is to remove the restrictive factory air intake system and replace it with a high-flow CGS Air Intake System. The factory system is very restrictive and the main source of restriction is the OEM paper air filter. The passages in an OEM paper air filter must be very small to trap dirt, and these small passages are what restrict flow. Even worse, as the filter becomes dirty, these passages become clogged, further reducing airflow. Another reason for restriction is the physical size of the factory air filter housing, or air box, which limits the size of the OEM air filter. The air inlet on the air box can also be very small, further restricting airflow. The final source of restriction is the factory air intake tube. The factory intake can be small in diameter, have sound baffles and make awkward bends.

A CGS Air Intake System will give your engine maximum airflow with superior air filtration. CGS equips all their systems with a large round or conical cotton gauze air filter. The combination of size, deep pleats (which further increase filter area) and superior material far outflows ordinary paper air filters, but not at the expense of air filtration that is so critical to long engine life. The CGS filter is connected to the throttle body with a CNC mandrel-bent steel intake tube. This tube features large diameters and smoother bends for greater airflow, and it’s double powder coated in ceramic silver and clear for appearance and durability. All connections are made with high quality silicone couplers and clamps.

Besides better performance, you also get reduced maintenance costs with a CGS Air Intake System. Unlike an OEM paper air filter, which must be replaced periodically, the CGS air filter can be washed and reused. Check the filter’s condition every time you change your oil, and when it’s dirty to the point where you can’t see any of the filter oil color, then it’s time for maintenance. Clean the filter thoroughly with an air filter cleaner specified for use on cotton gauze air filters. Rinse the filter with clean water from the inside out and allow it to dry. Once dry, oil the pleats with cotton gauze air filter oil and reinstall. It’s that simple.
