Buick Century Sedan / Wagon 1982-1988, Front and Rear Ventshade™ Window Deflectors by AVS®. These are the direct descendants of the original AVS product invented in 1935. Very simply, they allow you to lower your windows a bit when it’s raining to enable fresh air circulation and you won’t get wet. They also let you crack your windows to let heat escape when parked in bright sunlight, keeping your interior cooler. These modern versions are made of stainless steel with natural or black finish, car wash safe, and install in minutes with 3M™ adhesive or included fasteners.

Today if it’s raining and getting too stuffy inside a vehicle, the average motorist can just switch on the A/C, but that wasn’t an option for drivers in 1935. Back then the only solution was to get some fresh air inside the vehicle from outside and that meant getting wet. To address this problem AVS created the original Ventshade. It mounted above the car window so the window could be cracked open a bit to allow airflow without letting the rain in. It was also found that Ventshades provided additional shielding from the sun’s rays and also kept interiors cooler during the hot summer months by allowing the windows to be cracked open when parked in the sun. The trapped heat was able to escape without potential thieves knowing that the windows were slightly down.
The materials they’re made from and method of installation may have changed, but today’s Ventshades are still as effective as their forebears. Modern Ventshades are constructed from tough, corrosion resistant stainless steel, so you’ll get many years of reliable service, and they’re available in your choice of black or natural stainless steel. Installation is quick and easy with 3M acrylic foam tape or the included fasteners. 3M tape is so effective it’s used by the automobile manufacturers to attach trim parts at the factory. The foam core allows the tape to expand and contract with temperature changes and conform to surface irregularities.
You can run your car or truck through the car wash with Ventshades installed; however automatic “brush-style” car washes should be avoided. They come with everything required for installation, including detailed instructions, and they’re covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to the original purchaser as long as he or she owns the vehicle on which the product is installed.
AVS is the innovator of the auto Ventshade, first produced in 1935 to mount above a car window to keep rain out and let fresh air in. In testimony to its effectiveness, the Ventshade is still manufactured by AVS today, albeit in a much more modern form. The company also manufactures a wide range of other Ventvisor/side window deflectors along with hood/windshield protectors and vehicle styling/protective accessories. In 1998 AVS was acquired by prominent truck accessory manufacturer Lund International, and today is one of that company’s leading brands. AVS products are precision engineered and crafted from the finest materials right here in the USA.

The vent visor installed just great. The only comment or complaint I would add is the sharp edges found on the product. I took fine sandpaper and eased all of the edges prior to assembling them to the car. I feel this should have been done prior to sending the product out. One less complaint from a customer is one more attaboy! For an otherwise great product. Thanks, Alan Wright.
