One of the crucial parts of your Chevy Suburban responsible for smooth engine performance is a thermostat. Its task is relatively simple: when the motor and cooling fluid get hot enough, the part gradually opens and allows more coolant to flow through the radiator to avoid engine overheating. Inside, the thermostat has a wax pellet that changes its state depending on the surrounding temperature, thus making a built-in valve open or close. In vehicles meant for a hot climate, this temperature limit is often somewhat lower, to be on the safe side. A similar effect appears when the thermostat's sealing deteriorates, making this part partly open all the time.
