The powertrain of the 2022 iX3 carries over unchanged. A single electric motor powers the rear axle, and juice comes from an 80-kWh battery. All-wheel-drive is not available. The motor produces 281 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, enough to accelerate the vehicle to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds. The iX3 is rated for 286 miles on the WLTP system, which equates to a more modest 200 miles according to the EPA cycle. Recharging the battery to 80% takes a little more than half an hour via 150 kW DC fast charging, and 60 miles of range are added in 10 minutes. In the iX3 SUV, the motor, transmission, and 400V electronics are encased in a common shell, helping save space and weight.
