The Toyota Avalon is an appealing choice for those who seek a roomy, well-appointed full-size sedan with a quiet, comfortable ride. Trying to banish its conservative reputation, Toyota's sedan rides on bold-looking 19-inch matte black alloy wheels and tries on an aero body kit. Inside, there are red seatbelts and stitching, an abundance of TRD logos, and a sport steering wheel. But the new trim is about more than just aesthetics. Performance enhancements come from the TRD-tuned chassis. The Toyota Avalon TRD sits 0.6 inch lower than the regular model and, most importantly, features thicker braces for higher chassis stiffness and special shock absorber tuning for sportier driving dynamics. Better stopping power is ensured by bigger brakes with 12.9'' rotors and dual-piston calipers with red covers. A cat-back exhaust system with TRD tips completes the upgrades.

The TRD-tuned Avalon offers no engine upgrades, so just like the XLE, Limited, XSE, and Touring models, it is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that makes roughly 300 horsepower sent via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid powertrains are available, which got an increase to 215 hp last year and are mated to a CVT. Like before, the 2020 Toyota Avalon offers an outstanding steering feel and feedback, which, combined with revised suspension or an optional adaptive setup allows for a plush, satisfying driving experience.
