For 2019, Toyota introduced the new trim level of their C-HR subcompact crossover, the LE. It is positioned as the entry-level grade offering a notable decrease in price compared to the previous base trim, the XLE. Though, the price drop led to a bit less standard equipment. The new model comes with 17” steel wheels instead of 18” alloy ones, offers less color options, and has a body-colored roof instead of a two-tone offering. The C-HR LE also comes without rear-cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring. However, it features the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of safety tech that includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beams, and other systems. The newcomer also comes with the latest version of the corporate infotainment system and smartphone compatibility. For 2019, the XLE grade adds puddle illumination, auto-folding mirrors, smart key, and illuminated vanity mirrors. The line-topping Limited trim level features visual upgrades that include black B-pillars, red bumper garnish, and chrome window accents. This version also received an upgraded infotainment system, leather seats with lumbar support on the driver side, seat back pockets, and rain-sensing wipers (optional).
All variants of the 2019 Toyota C-HR use a 2.0 L DOHC I4 good for 144 hp. The engine utilizes the latest technologies, including Valvematic and variable valve timing, intended to smoothen its operation and increase fuel efficiency. The power unit is teamed with a CVT with intelligence and Shift mode and front-wheel drive and provides excellent fuel economy of 29 mpg combined. The transmission employs advanced technologies as well – it features a coaxial 2-port oil pump system that ensures continuous oil pressure in different driving conditions, new belt structure to decrease noise inside the cabin, and redesigned pulleys for improved fuel efficiency and acceleration. The TNGA C-platform used by the C-HR offers low weight, high strength and low center of gravity and benefits from extra rigidity achieved by added spot welding, braces, adhesives, and gussets in and on key connection structures. The column-type EPS system of the 2019 Toyota C-HR allows you to feel fully connected to the road. It ensures stronger feedback at high speeds and light feedback during low-speed driving.
