When preparing the third-generation Vito for the North American market, Mercedes decided to market it under the Metris name, probably in order to avoid “Vito Corleone” connotations. Both models are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 engine that feeds power to the rear wheels through a 7-speed automatic gearbox with a manual shifting mode. The engine cranks out 208 horsepower and not only puts the 4,850-pound van into motion, but also ensures its 5,000 lbs towing rate. A fully independent suspension is designed specifically for cargo and passenger models, providing lively dynamics on the road. As well as the Mercedes Sprinter, the Metris is available in a Worker-badged option for both cargo and passenger models. The bare-bone Mercedes Metris Worker is aimed at those who value the utility qualities of a van over anything else.
